Earlier this year, Cloooney played alongside his Ocean 13 stars Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheedle in a World Series of Poker “Ante Up for Africa” benefit to raise money and awareness for the human rights crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan. Each player brought $5,000 to the table and was encouraged to donate 50% of their winnings to the Enough project and the International Rescue Committee - charities designated by the tournament because of their history of helping in Darfur, a region of Sudan that has been devastated by Civil War, leaving more than 500,000 people dead and 2 million displaced refugees. Clooney is also spearheading a fundraising effort for Not On Our Watch, which recently raised $9.2 million for the charity during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
