Each player brought $5,000 to the table and was encouraged to donate 50% of their winnings to the Enough project and the International Rescue Committee - charities designated by the tournament because of their history of helping in Darfur, a region of Sudan that has been devastated by Civil War, leaving more than 500,000 people dead and 2 million displaced refugees. Clooney is also spearheading a fundraising effort for Not On Our Watch, which recently raised $9.2 million for the charity during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Tobey Maguire, star of the recent blockbuster Spiderman movies, has been recognized as one of the better poker stars in Hollywood. Recently Maguire won the $2,000 Phil Hellmuth Invitational for $95,480 and impressed Poker legend Phil Hellmuth enough to give a nod to the young Hollywood star, saying that Maguire shows “tremendous focus and determination” and even predicting that Tobey “will become one of the better poker stars.”
